Nevertheless they ate the Passover, contrary to the prescription; because Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, “May the good Lord grant pardon to all who have set their heart to seek God, the Lord , the God of their ancestors, even though they are not clean as holiness requires.”

വളരെപ്പേര്‍ - അതില്‍ ബഹുഭൂരിപക്‌ഷവും എഫ്രായിം, മനാസ്‌സെ, ഇസാക്കര്‍, സെബുലൂണ്‍ ഗോത്രങ്ങളില്‍നിന്നുള്ളവര്‍ - വിധിപ്രകാരമല്ലാതെ പെസഹാ ഭക്‌ഷിച്ചു. ഹെസെക്കിയാ അവര്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി ഇപ്രകാരം പ്രാര്‍ഥിച്ചു:
ദേവാലയനിയമപ്രകാരമുള്ള ശുദ്‌ധീകരണം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരെങ്കിലും, തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്‍മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ കര്‍ത്താവിനെ ഹൃദയപൂര്‍വം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്ന ഓരോരുത്തരോടും നല്ലവനായ കര്‍ത്താവു ക്‌ഷമിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours,
John 17:9
ഞാന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണുപ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കുന്നത്‌; ലോകത്തിനുവേണ്ടിയല്ല, അങ്ങ്‌ എനിക്കു തന്നവര്‍ക്കു വേണ്ടിയാണ്‌ പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കുന്നത്‌. എന്തെന്നാല്‍, അവര്‍ അവിടുത്തേക്കുള്ളവരാണ്‌. എനിക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം അങ്ങയുടേതാണ്‌.
യോഹന്നാന്‍ 17 : 9
“I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
John 17:20
അവര്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി മാത്രമല്ല, അവരുടെ വചനം മൂലം എന്നില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടിക്കൂടിയാണു ഞാന്‍ പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കുന്നത്‌.
യോഹന്നാന്‍ 17 : 20
He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will.”

അവന്‍ അല്‍പദൂരം മുന്നോട്ടു ചെന്ന്‌ കമിഴ്‌ന്നു വീണു പ്രാര്‍ഥിച്ചു: എന്‍െറ പിതാവേ, സാധ്യമെങ്കില്‍ ഈ പാനപാത്രം എന്നില്‍ നിന്നകന്നുപോകട്ടെ. എങ്കിലും എന്‍െറ ഹിതംപോലെയല്ല; അവിടുത്തെ ഹിതംപോലെയാകട്ടെ.

Withdrawing a second time, he prayed again, “My Father, if it is not possible that this cup pass without my drinking it, your will be done!”

രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യവും അവന്‍ പോയി പ്രാര്‍ഥിച്ചു: എന്‍െറ പിതാവേ, ഞാന്‍ കുടിക്കാതെ ഇതു കടന്നുപോകയില്ലെങ്കില്‍ അങ്ങയുടെ ഹിതം നിറവേറട്ടെ!

അവന്‍ അവരെവിട്ടു മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യവും പോയി അതേ പ്രാര്‍ഥന ആവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു.

അവന്‍ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: എന്‍െറ ആത്‌മാവ്‌ മരണത്തോളം ദുഃഖിതമായിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇവിടെ ഉണര്‍ന്നിരിക്കുവിന്‍.

അവന്‍ അല്‍പദൂരം മുന്നോട്ടു ചെന്ന്‌, നിലത്തുവീണ്‌, സാധ്യമെങ്കില്‍ ആ മണിക്കൂര്‍ തന്നെ കടന്നുപോകട്ടെ എന്നു പ്രാര്‍ഥിച്ചു.

he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Take this cup away from me, but not what I will but what you will.”

അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു: ആബ്‌ബാ, പിതാവേ, എല്ലാം അങ്ങേക്കു സാധ്യമാണ്‌. ഈ പാനപാത്രം എന്നില്‍ നിന്നു മാറ്റിത്തരണമേ! എന്നാല്‍ എന്‍െറ ഹിതമല്ല അങ്ങയുടെ ഹിതം മാത്രം.

അവന്‍ വീണ്ടും പോയി, അതേ വചനം പറഞ്ഞുപ്രാര്‍ഥിച്ചു.

ജോബ്‌ 42 : 8
If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life. This is only for those whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray.

മരണത്തിനര്‍ഹമല്ലാത്ത പാപം സഹോദരന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നത്‌ ഒരുവന്‍ കണ്ടാല്‍ അവന്‍ പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കട്ടെ. അവനു ദൈവം ജീവന്‍ നല്‍കും. മരണാര്‍ഹമല്ലാത്ത പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ക്കു മാത്രമാണിത്‌. മരണാര്‍ഹമായ പാപമുണ്ട്‌. അതെപ്പറ്റി പ്രാര്‍ഥിക്കണമെന്നു ഞാന്‍ പറയുന്നില്ല.

The Lord also restored the prosperity of Job, after he had prayed for his friends; the Lord even gave to Job twice as much as he had before.

But he persisted: “Please, do not let my Lord be angry if I speak up this last time. What if ten are found there?” For the sake of the ten, he replied, I will not destroy it.
